Hearth Artisan Bread opened for business in historic Plymouth, Massachusettes in 2010. Beginning by offering a single type of bread, we have gone on to provide a panoply of different types, flavors and styles of bread, both in-store and across the Boston area through our wholesale partners.
Our bakery store offers hand-crafted, freshly baked bread, made on-site in Plymouth using the finest quality ingredients. We also provide the same bread to local restaurants, hotels and retailers through our wholesale department.
The Hearth journey began many years before we sold our first loaf of bread with the story of our founders Peter and Nicole Nyberg.
For Peter, baking is not just a way to make a living. For him, it is a vocation; a way of life.
Peter's baking career has spanned two decades, beginning with his education at L'Academy d'Cuisine in Bethesda, Maryland. His love affair with artisan bread started in the renown Marvelous Market in Bethesda. Peter has gone on to participate in ventures across North America, including in Vancouver, where Peter's MIX Bakery earned first place in The Vancouver Courier's Readers' Choice Award in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007.
Before opening Hearth Artisan Bread, Peter served as the senior bakery coordinator for Whole Foods Market, where he also did research and development. He also teaches as an adjunct professor at Johnson and Whales University in the College of Culinary Arts International Baking and Pastry Institute.
But there is more to running a successful bakery than just baking bread, and that is where co-founder and co-owner Nicole comes in. Her experience in sales and marketing, gained over the course of twenty years, gives Hearth the acumen needed to keep our bakery, store and wholesale projects running smoothly.
